NHS study trial, Central Lancashire University, Soo Downe (Midwifery Specialist):

​

There is currently a study taking place by the NHS at Central Lancashire University.  Soo Downe, a Midwifery Specialist, is leading the trial to investigate how effective the use of Hypnobirthing really is.  The trial is to include over 800 first time mums, over an 18 month period and the women will be given "90 minutes of training and a CD to listen to" - this is a very small amount of training in comparison to the 10 hours that we provide to you within the full education programme,  the results will be very interesting, watch this space as they are due Spring 2014.

Tom Fletcher of McFly and his wife Giovanna gave birth to a beautiful Hypnobirth Baby Boy, Congratulations to them both, happy days!

 

Stictly Come Dancing coach Erin Boag is now using Hypnobirthing for her current pregnancy and up and coming labour and birth, with regular blogs throughout her pregnancy.

Hypnobirthing Instructors are now FEDANT Registered:

 

As teaching professionals, Hypnobirthing Practitioners are now eligible for accreditation within "The Federation of Antenatal Educators" (Registry for Birth Professionals FEDANT) and this is a huge step forward for the future of our work and is there to protect you by ensuring you use a qualified accredited body who holds appropriate public liability insurance.

Northampton General Hospital Midwife-Led Unit and Maternity Ward Upgrades:

​

A £480,000 cash boast will see a number of improvements made at the hospital and will be used to develop an alongside Midwife-led Unit (MLU) - which is designed to give women more birthing options.

​

A MLU is planned at Northampton to compliment the existing home birth service at the hospital, and its high risk obstetric unit.

​

The hospital hopes that providing a Midwife-led Unit on site would offer a "home from home" environment where birth can remain an intimate and personal experience, supported by midwives.

​

The funding will support development of an MLU with 3 x birthing pool suites, all with en-suite and kitchenette facilities (plus double pull down beds) and the freshening up of the maternity ward.

Kate Middleton and her natural labour and birth:

 

It has been reported in all the media recently that Kate Middleton was using Hypnobirthing for her pregnancy and birth.  Considering she used Hypnotherapy for her hyperemesis gravidarum (acute morning sickness) in early pregnancy and high recommendations for this natural birthing programme came from her close friends, I am not surprised at all.  I don't think we will every truely know what went on behind closed doors and why should we, it is a very personal and special time, but, we do know that she had a quick first birth which was completly natural and she looked radiant hours later.  I must admit I like to think she used our techniques and had a beautiful experience for the birth of our Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge, congratulations Kate and William on the birth of your son, fantastic news. 

 

 

The Wise Hippo Birthing Programme and fellow friend and Instructor appears on TOWIE: 

 

It appears that our Hypnobirthing Programme is going from strength to strength, one of my lovely friends and fellow Instructors was contacted by ITV to appear on an episode of TOWIE for a little intro into the world of Hypnobirthing.  Stephanie Grainger of www.hypnobirthing-essex.co.uk had a great time meeting Billie, Sam and Jess and by the sound of things they were all very impressed by the whole prospect of having a calm and relaxed birthing experiance. Is Stephanie Grainger going to be Billie Faiers personal teacher, watch this space...

BB's First Birthday Party: 

 

Beautiful Beginning's 1st Birthday is fast approaching and I am organising a little get together to celebrate with all my lovely past and present mummies and mummies-to-be (including little ones, daddies and birthing partners should they like to join us!).

If you know of anyone who is expecting who would like to find out more, this will be a great opportunity to meet me and have a little chat with other BB mummies who have attended my classes for the benefit of a calm and more comfortable pregnancy, labour and birth...

Beautiful Beginning received a lovely un-expected phone call this week from BBC Radio Northampton, asking if I would like to be interviewed about the current issues surrounding breast feeding.  From both personal experience and supporting my BB mummies, I feel the maternity care in Northamptonshire is most often of a very high standard, but, any discussion time in the public eye is always beneficial and breastfeeding should be no exception. It may be a natural occurrence, but, it isn't easy for every mummy and the more that local support is publicised the better...
